Artifact is a new, digital card game from legendary game designers Richard Garfield and Valve . It integrates deep strategic arrangements and confrontational game experience with the background of Dota2. I have been a Dota2 and other card games (eg. Hearthstone) player before, so I have a strong interest in this game.
This unique card game makes use of its digital freedoms by filling it with lively animations and effects for each card played, which is the point that makes me immerse in it. They will laugh at an opponent’s tower falling, but tremble when the ancient is in danger. Really cute, right?
Every card game has its unique rules, Artifact is no exception, and its playing method is very special. The battles between the two players are not limited to just one scene. Similar to Dota2, The board is divvied up into three lanes, each with its own pool of mana to spend on cards and a tower. A singular hand carries across all three lanes, and the goal is to either destroy two towers or the opponent’s ancient.
Artifact has different game modes. In the construction mode, I could form a set of cards according to my own understanding. I can use my deck to compete with other players and adjust my deck from a lot of battles to make it more perfect.
However, in the draft mode, which is the highlight of Artifact in my eyes, I can select two cards from the given card sets, and then “pass.” Once five packs have gone through the artificial rotation, I build a deck from the heroes and cards you’ve drafted and play other drafters, until you hit five wins or two losses. According to the result of the battle, the game will reward me.
Overall, Artifact’s interface is simple and the animation and effects are cool; the rules and modes have something original and creative; since there’s so much information to display and so many things happening all at once, the board state isn’t as perceptible at a glance like other games. Thus it is an extremely difficult game for a beginner, and I need to spend more time and energy in it to escape from struggling.

However, it is also the most bloody edition of Lara. In the game, the two main parts: Third Personal Shooting (TPS) and Exploration are alternately combined properly, which makes the plot develops smoothly, and the player’s sense of engagement could be gained easily through battle.
